Stefan Jackiw has played with the same faithful bow in more than 1,000 concerts and practised with it for tens of thousands of hours.
So when the $30,000 bow snapped during a concerto, Jackiw was shocked. “I’ve had a string break but never had a bow break,” he said. “Most violinists in a lifetime of playing won’t have a bow snap.”
